About the event
Â
We admit it: our finger painting workshops usually fill up before they even get onto our website. Consequently, new students rarely get a chance to try it out. So we’ve created this workshop just for new students! (Please note: We will be checking all registrations to make sure the spots are taken by new students, so if you have taken any class with Kimberly, please refrain from signing up, and leave the spaces for new people. Thanks for helping the newbies have a chance at this fun stuff!)
We have 6 spots available from now until Art Walk night on January 16. So if you don’t manage to squeak in the first six spots, come to Art Walk!
On Art Walk night we will open registration for the last 6 spots. Read on…
Art Walk details: On Thursday January 16 from 5-8pm, you will get the opportunity to try finger painting yourself! Kimberly’s art will be featured during Art Walk, and she’ll be at Cole Gallery, paints and gloves at the ready. She will have a primed canvas and will invite Art Walk attendees to come and add color, dipping your gloved fingertips in the paint, creating a collaborative piece with all the interested attendees. Doesn’t that sound like fun?! We may even have a raffle for the finished piece! (Stay tuned for more information on that, or better yet, stop by Art Walk and see what we’re up to.)
In the workshop on February 22, all the supplies you need to create your very own work of art will be provided by Kimberly for the supply fee. That’s right! You don’t have to invest hundreds of dollars in tubes of paint or canvases– we’ve taken that obstacle out of the way for you. For just $50, which you will give to Kimberly in either cash or a check at the beginning of your workshop, you will receive everything you need – paints, gloves, canvas – to create your finger-painting masterpiece! But do be sure to bring a box to take your painting home with you, so the wet paint doesn’t damage anything. A box that fits a 16x20 canvas would be safe.
During the workshop, Kimberly will teach you about color placement and techniques to blend colors on the canvas. You’ll learn to build texture as Kimberly works with each student, and she’ll encourage you to enjoy the freedom of creating your own techniques. At the end of the workshop students will take home a completed painting to show your friends and family.Â
